Workout Wherever with Water
Creating a strength-building routine doesn't have to be difficult, require a trip to the gym, or a ton of equipment. You can get in a quick arm toning workout with water!
Did you know an average plastic bottle of water is about 16 ounces?
16 ounces = 1 pound.
Grab your water bottle and try these arm toning moves. Aim to complete one to three sets of 12 reps for each move and a full arm workout!
If you don’t have two bottles handy for some of these exercises, just do one arm and then the other.
Alternating Biceps Curls
Stand up straight with a water bottle in each hand and your arms extended down at your sides. Twist your forearm, then bend your elbow, raising one bottle until it is vertical and your palm faces the shoulder. Lower to the original position and repeat with the opposite arm.
2. Seated Shoulder Press
Sit up straight. Raise the water bottles to shoulder height with your palms forward. Raise the bottles towards the ceiling. Pause at the top. Lower the bottles back to the starting position.
3. Triceps Overhead Extensions
Stand or sit up straight and hold a water bottle with both hands. Raise the bottle overhead at arm's length. Keep your elbows pointed forward and biceps stationery while you lower the bottle behind your head. Raise the water bottle back to the starting position.
4. Shoulder External Rotation
Start with your arms bent at 90-degrees in front of you. Hold the water bottles with palms facing up. Keeping your upper arms close to your body, rotate your forearms away from your belly button. Hold for a count of 2 and bring your arms back to the starting position.
5. Halos
Start by holding the water bottle at chest level, lift it above your head, keeping your elbows slightly bent. Rotate the water around your head in a circle (halo) and return to the starting position.
Ready for more? You can increase the intensity by adding more ounces or simply switching from a plastic bottle to a reusable stainless steel bottle.
